Passport
Number Needed for Airline Tickets in Peru |
The
government of Peru has implemented changes in the reservation and issuance
of airline tickets in Peru. After July 16th, all flights
reserved in Peru will need to have the passport number included in the
reservation.
It is recommended that this
information be included at the time that the reservation is made in case
the ticket is issued locally.

Peru
to Participate in “Bird Fair” |
Peru will be among the elite exhibitors at the
British Birdwatching Fair “Bird Fair”, taking place next August
20-22 in London.
Peru will participate for the second year in the
fair, together with some of the most important bird watching
destinations in the world. Each year 54 million Americans
participate in bird watching activities around the world, making
Peru an excellent travel destination for them. |

PromPeru, Peru’s Tourism Promotion Board will be accompanied at the fair
by: Inkanatura, Manu Expeditions, Kolibri Expeditions, Muyuna Lodge, and
Birding AQP.

New Terminal to be Opened |
The Jorge Chavez
International Airport, in Lima, Peru, will dedicate a new terminal in
February of 2005, 3 months ahead of schedule.
The new terminal will
increase the size of the airport by more than 50%. The new addition will
help to better serve travelers and allow more flights.

Aero-Continente
Resumes Operations |
AeroContinente, the airline with the
most domestic flights in Peru, resumed service under a new name, Nuevo
Continente. The suspension of operations of AeroContinente allowed other
airlines to increase frequency of their flights and to fly new routes. Now
that Nuevo Continente is back in the market along with its competitors,
airline service in Peru is more available and reliable than ever before.

Machu
Picchu Continues to be Considered a World Patrimony Site by UNESCO |
Machu Picchu is still on the list, after
local officials worked tirelessly to protect and preserve the priceless
site. UNESCO will assist with the continuing protection and preservation
of the site.
Peru boasts 10 UNESCO designated World
Patrimony sites: Machu Picchu, the City of Cusco, Chavin de Huantar,
Huascaran National Park, Chan Chan, Manu National Park, the Historic
Center of Lima, Rio Abiseo National Park, the Lines of Nasca, and the
Historic Center of Arequipa. |
These sites provide world-renowned
experiences that leave visitors in awe.
The World Patrimony sites in Peru showcase
the diversity of the country with everything from spectacular ruins to
pristine rain forests, and mysterious lines thousands of years old to
colonial cities. Peru will delight visitors with the treasures that it
contains.

Regulations on Walking Sticks
at Machu Picchu |
There is a new regulation, effective
immediately, that visitors are not permitted to enter Machu Picchu with
walking sticks or canes. Only visitors who provide medical certification
that the walking stick or cane is medically necessary will be allowed to
use them at Machu Picchu.
